Urban Renewal Projects
Functional Upgrade · Image Revitalization
KXD has been deeply rooted in urban renewal for many years, providing comprehensive renovation and functional upgrade services for aging districts, existing buildings, and municipal infrastructure. Our scope covers residential community retrofits, building façade renovations, bridge reinforcement and streetscape enhancement, and public space optimization. Below are selected projects showcasing KXD’s end-to-end urban renewal capabilities — from assessment and design through construction and delivery.
Pedestrian Bridge
Fuhuadao Pedestrian Bridge
Originally known as Xijiao Pedestrian Bridge, this 176-meter-long structure was Zhongshan’s first pedestrian bridge. With a span of 4×44 meters, it is one of the longest-span pedestrian bridges in Guangdong Province — carrying the collective memory of generations of Zhongshan residents.
As a key component of the Fuhuadao upgrade, the renovation included: replacing all 8 existing stairways with new steel structures, adding 4 elevators, and installing a illuminated canopy.
- Preserving memory, revitalizing image
- New elevators + wave-form steel stairs — full accessibility
- Illuminated canopy + 7-lane widening — enhanced traffic capacity
Pedestrian Bridge
Minxing Pedestrian Bridge
Located on Longhua Avenue in Minzhi Subdistrict, Minxing Pedestrian Bridge is one of four signature bridges developed as part of the Longhua Avenue streetscape enhancement project. It is a key component of Longhua District’s “Central Axis Enhancement Strategy.” Designed around the concept of “digital, intelligent, modern, and human-centric,” the bridge uses perforated aluminum panels with cutouts of binary digits “0” and “1” to create a distinctive nighttime lighting experience — reflecting the district’s “Digital Longhua” brand and earning it the nickname “Diamond of Wisdom.”
- Perforated aluminum panels with binary cutouts
- Glass curtain walls + metal panels — clean, tech-forward design
- Located in Longhua's Smart Corridor — projecting "Digital Longhua" image
Pedestrian Bridge
Minzhi School Pedestrian Bridge
Located at the intersection of Longhua Avenue and Min’an Road, Minzhi Middle School Bridge is one of four signature bridges in the Longhua Avenue streetscape enhancement project. Surrounded by schools, parks, and residential areas, the bridge incorporates Chinese cultural elements — featuring a red color palette and design inspired by the “endless knot” and “diamond,” symbolizing safety, happiness, and good fortune — earning it the nickname “Diamond of Safety.” The upgrade uses modern design techniques with LED-lit aluminum panels and steel structural columns.
- Chinese red endless knot + diamond — "Diamond of Safety"
- Steel structure + LED — rhythmic night lighting
- Shading, accessibility + "AI+5G" security
