Elevator Retrofitting Process
Clients reach out via phone, online inquiry, or in-person visit. Our team gathers initial project details and arranges a professional consultation.
Technical specialists conduct an on-site assessment — evaluating building structure, underground utilities, and surrounding conditions. A feasibility report is issued.
Based on survey findings and client requirements, we develop a custom solution — including structural design, visual renderings, and cost estimates. Client feedback is incorporated.
Upon design approval, we provide a detailed cost breakdown covering shaft steel structure, elevator equipment, and installation — giving clients a clear project budget.
Once the design and quote are confirmed, a formal construction contract is signed — defining scope, timeline, quality standards, payment milestones, and warranty terms.
We assist clients in preparing planning and building permit applications — ensuring full regulatory compliance before construction begins.
Leveraging KXD Group's in-house steel fabrication facility, elevator shafts are precision-manufactured — ensuring quality and accuracy from the source.
Using modular prefabrication combined with on-site assembly, traditional 90–120 day construction timelines are reduced to just 3–8 hours — minimizing disruption to residents.
Upon completion, joint inspections are conducted to verify structural integrity and operational safety. The elevator is then handed over to the owner.
A comprehensive after-sales program includes regular inspections of elevator operation, shaft structure, and electrical systems — with 24/7 emergency response to ensure user safety.
How We Deliver Elevator Retrofitting Projects
Phase 1:
Design & Permitting
Every project begins with on-site assessment and design. From structural evaluation and shaft selection to construction planning, our team thoroughly understands the building's condition and residents' needs. We are well-versed in local policies and approval procedures, assisting clients through the permitting process efficiently.
Phase 2:
Shaft Fabrication
Leveraging KXD Group's in-house steel fabrication facility, we precision-manufacture elevator shafts from material selection through welding and assembly. On site, we deploy modular prefabrication and field assembly techniques to shorten timelines and minimize disruption — reducing installation time from 90–120 days to just 3–8 hours.
Phase 3:
Quality Assurance
Delivery is the beginning of our long-term commitment. We conduct regular inspections of elevator operation, shaft integrity, and electrical systems. Our 24-hour response protocol with a dedicated maintenance team ensures every user's safety is protected through rapid, professional service.
Our Digital Platform
Yijiati Project Real-Time Management System App – A digital management tool developed specifically for elevator retrofit projects, capable of managing over 5,000 concurrent projects. Covering project quantification, construction progress, material and process management, and quality supervision — the platform enables real-time progress tracking, material tracing, quality inspection, and workforce management via mobile devices, ensuring every project is managed in a controlled, visible, and traceable manner.
FAQ
Q1: Is unanimous consent required from all building owners?
No. Under Article 278 of China’s Civil Code, a decision requires participation by owners representing at least two-thirds of the total proprietary area and two-thirds of the total number of owners, with approval from at least three-quarters of participating owners. Yijiati can assist with coordination and the voting process.
Q2: How much does an elevator retrofit cost, and how are costs shared?
Varying by building structure and elevator brand, a precise quote is provided after site survey. Cost sharing is typically negotiated based on floor level — higher floors pay a larger share. Housing provident funds and special maintenance funds may also be used. Yijiati can help select the most suitable sharing plan.
Q3: How long does construction take? Will it disrupt daily life?
Typically delivered within two months. Foundation work takes about one week, factory prefabrication roughly 15 days, on-site hoisting just 3–4 hours, followed by finishing work. Residents can continue living normally throughout construction.
Q4: Are government subsidies available? How do I apply?
Yes. In 2026, the Chinese government’s ultra-long special treasury bonds provide RMB 250,000 per unit for 4–6 story buildings and RMB 300,000 for 7+ story buildings, with priority for level-entry designs. Eligibility requires owner approval, a signed contract, and a valid construction permit. Yijiati provides end-to-end application support.
Q5: Can I choose the elevator brand?
Yes. Yijiati maintains long-term partnerships with leading brands including ThyssenKrupp, Schindler, Hitachi, Mitsubishi, XIO, and Canny. Clients may select based on budget and preference, with professional guidance from our team.
Q6: What is the warranty period? How is after-sales service handled?
We recommend full-service maintenance contracts of at least 5 years. Yijiati provides regular inspections and 24/7 emergency response, and can coordinate with equipment manufacturers, professional maintenance providers, or financial insurance models to ensure long-term safety.
Q7: Is the retrofit process complicated? Do we need to visit multiple government departments ourselves?
The process involves several stages — site survey, design, permitting, construction, and inspection — which can be overwhelming for owners unfamiliar with the procedures.
Yijiati provides a turnkey, one-stop service — from resident coordination, design, and permitting through construction and ongoing maintenance — managing the entire process on your behalf. Permitting alone involves multiple agencies, including natural resources, housing and urban-rural development, and market regulation authorities. Our team is well-versed in local approval procedures and handles all documentation and submissions.
Clients work with one accountable team at Yijiati — no need to visit government offices, hire designers, or supervise construction independently.
