Completed around 2003, Zhongqiao Garden has approximately 260 households. With no elevators in the original plan, residents on upper floors faced significant mobility challenges — making elevator retrofitting an urgent need to improve living conditions.
The project was officially launched in late 2017, employing a modular steel structure shaft design and a full-service, one-stop delivery model covering resident coordination, design, permitting, construction, installation, and final inspection. Delivered in 2018, it became a benchmark case for elevator retrofitting in Shantou .
As one of the city’s first successful cases, the project was selected as a demonstration project under Shantou’s Implementation Opinions on Elevator Retrofitting for Existing Residential Buildings , providing practical experience for refining local policies . To date, multiple units across six buildings in Zhongqiao Garden have completed elevator installations, with the success extending to neighboring communities — accumulating extensive localized service expertise.
